Warwickshire College
Bridging skill gaps in industry
For over a quarter of a century, Warwickshire College has built a strong reputation as a leading provider of engineering apprenticeships, both in the Midlands and across the UK. From just 40 engineering apprentices in 1996, today there are 1,195, all benefiting from the college’s close working relationships with world-class companies in the sector, including Jaguar Land Rover, Agco, Royal Mail, Babcock, Alstom, Siemens, Cummins, Dematic and Telent.
The college is a pioneer of an employer-centric ethic, which now shapes the training of the college’s 2,500 apprentices from all industry sectors each year. Working closely with partner employers to create a bespoke training programme, the college focuses directly on equipping apprentices with the knowledge and skills to fill job vacancies right from day one.
In 2021 the college became the first in the UK to gain bachelor’s degree awarding powers. It is also one of few colleges nationally that is at the forefront of piloting and trailblazing reforms to overhaul post-16 education, placing skills at the heart of the UK economy, with a focus on technical and higher technical qualifications.
