Blackpool and The Fylde College
Partnerships for engineering
The Blackpool and The Fylde College’s project management scheme, set up in 2007, provides a platform for the development and delivery of graduate training (in collaboration with Lancaster University) in project management for a number of important local, regional and national companies.
Central to the College’s work is the Project Control Foundation Scheme (PCFS) which provides its employer partners, including BAE Systems and Rolls Royce, with an opportunity to re-shape and harmonise their project management and control operations across multiple sites and locations. Graduates are equipped with work-based and practical skills preparing them to take on project manager roles. The graduate project management scheme was the first to be accredited by the Association of Project Managers for its Foundation Degree.
In the first eight years, over 400 students graduated from the scheme, 50% achieving a first-class honours degree in 2012-2013 rising to 62% in 2013-2014, with around 90% of its engineering graduates being placed in full-time employment. The College has been recognised for its significant and successful contribution to industrial project management training across the UK.
